Marugoto Nippon
Tokyo Design Center inc. (TDC) Review
Marugoto Nippon is a commercial facility launched by TOKYO RAKUTENCHI GROUP in December 2015 with the purpose to reinvigorate the Asakusa Rokku district. The space from the first to the fourth floors is occupied by renowned regional businesses from 20 municipalities and nearly 50 regions that were previously unrepresented in Tokyo. Now, they are united under the roof of “Marugoto Nippon.” Each floor’s interior is designed in accordance with the floor theme with varying stones, wood, earth, and paper forming a pattern. To enhance the sense of integrity, banners and signboards with the shops’ logos (symbolizing an opened makunouchi lunchbox with various ingredients) glitter throughout each of the floors. An appealing and unconventional layout design is further intensified by pillars that are placed between the shops and the unutilized ambiguous spaces amidst the rented areas to signify the shared nature of the space.
